The AI Opportunity

AI has been building slowly, with fits and starts, over my 25 years of being in the forefront of AI R&D. But with the latest fitful push towards commercializing AI, the hype is overshadowing its true value.

The problem with the current hype: Musicians are rightfully concerned that AI will replace their creativity, steal their content, and remove the human aspect from their music. Thus, musicians may feel that AI will decrease the demand for their craft and impact their livelihood.

But the reality is: There is a great opportunity to make AI a useful tool for musicians to enhance their creativity and increase the human connection to their music. Thus, rather than replacing the musician, AI should bring about an increase in demand for human creativity, with AI playing a supportive role, and it should reduce the barrier for new musicians to join the evolution.

Thus, I believe that the future is bright for musicians, and we want to use our passion in AI R&D towards the AI tools that they will need to be more productive.

First Steps

We are bringing together a small core group of experienced people in Pittsburgh PA from the AI, life sciences, and insurance industries to kick off this endeavor. We have begun development of novel high potential AI technology, and are beginning to build an intellectual property portfolio to allow us to plant and grow a seed in this emerging market.

Why now? Like the confluence of Pittsburgh's three rivers at the Point, there are three main factors that are leading us to today:

After decades of successful corporate careers performing AI R&D, the technology is finally evolving to a ubiquitous technology. At this point in our careers, we have the financial freedom to take a chance to venture out on our own to be our own boss and go in the direction that is challenging, satisfies our passions, and has a long potential future.

Like Lebron James, who wants to play meaningful minutes in the NBA with his son before he retires, we are a group of very successful and experienced AI and business development individuals who have a group of bright highly educated offspring who have recently entered the workforce, so we would like to use our experiences, harnessed with the energy of the younger generation, to build the foundations of a business that can be our legacy that we leave for our children. Just like Lebron and his son, the value is in the journey, as much as it is in the outcome.

AI is changing our way of life in small and big ways, and this opportunity is coming fast. So we want to be a part of the start of the wave so we can have some influence on its direction.
